Qualification for World Cup
1st World Cup in Kontiolahti : places for each nation according to the nation cup of the past season (max. each 7 athletes for France)
Decembre : Top 90 of the IBU-Point system for WC
January : Top 85 WC and Top 8 OEC
March : Top 80 WC (number of places per nation, not fixed to names)and Top 10 OEC (fixed to names, maximum 1 athlete per nation)
in addition wildcards for one athlete (each male and female) from Asia, North- and Southamerica (according to WCH results)
Open European Cup (OEC)
like a 2nd league from which the athletes can rise but also where athletes from the WC can descend
nevertheless there will be a European Cup ranking
IBU-Points
last place - place 5: 1-Point-distance
place 5-4: 2-Points-distance
place 4-3: 3-Points-distance
place 3-2: 4-Points-distance
place 2-1: 5-Points-distance
Qualification for Olympics 2010
IBU-Points in all individual races of the 2 following WCH
addition of the points of the 3 best athletes per nation
the added points result in a nation ranking that decides how many places each nation gets for the Olympics
Draw groups
according to the IBU-Point system of WC
Group 1: Places 61-93
Group 2: Top 30
Group 3: Places 31-60
Top 15 Athletes of WC-ranking can decide between draw group 2 or 3
