Switzerland with 4 athletes again

Ab sofort stehen den Schweizer Biathleten wieder vier Startplätze im Weltcup zur Verfügung. Diese Regelung gilt bereits für den Sprintwettbewerb von Pokljuka. Ausschlaggebend für diese erfreuliche Wende sind sportliche, aber auch reglementarische Gründe. Die aussergewöhnlichen Resultate (Weltcup- und IBU-Punkte) der gestarteten Schweizer im Welt- und im Europacup brachten Swiss-Ski den Rückgewinn des in Kontiolahti verlorenen vierten Startplatzes. Reglementarische Unklarheiten innerhalb der IBU führten zu diesem Umstoss. Die IBU versuchte mittels ihrer neu eingeführten IBU-Punkte, die Startfelder zu beschränken. Nach Kontiolahti sollte ein erster Cut nach den ersten 90 Athleten erfolgen. Da aber grosse Nationen wie Russland damals bereits mehr Athleten als Quotenplätze in diesen 90 Startberechtigten hatten, verweigerte die IBU das Nachrücken des schlechtesten klassierten Schweizers (90.). Nun stiessen die Mannschaftsführer an einer Marathonsitzung der IBU in Pokljuka diese Handhabe des Reglements wieder um. Die Schweiz, welche in der Zwischenzeit auch sportlich den Sprung wieder geschafft hätte, erhält den vierten Startplatz per sofort zurück. Nun hat dies aber weiterreichende Konsequenzen. Da die IBU die nun verworfene Startpraxis fälschlicherweise auch in Hochfilzen anwendete, entgingen der Schweiz mögliche Weltcuppunkte des vierten Starters und sichere Nationen- und IBU-Punkte. Weitere Verhandlungen mit der IBU sollen klären, ob die Schweiz als Wiedergutmachung für diese entgangene Punktechance einen zusätzlichen Startplatz für Oberhof erhält. Quelle : SwissSki. Dès maintenant, quatre places de départ en Coupe du monde sont à nouveau à la disposition des biathlètes suisses. Cette clause s’applique déjà à l’épreuve de sprint de Pokljuka. Des raisons sportives, mais aussi réglementaires, ont été décisives pour ce réjouissant retournement de situation. Les extraordinaires résultats (points de Coupe du monde et IBU) des Suisses partis en Coupe du monde et d’Europe ont rendu à Swiss-Ski le gain de la quatrième place de départ perdue à Kontiolahti. Des ambiguïtés réglementaires au sein de l'IBU ont également conduit à ce revirement. L’IBU a essayé de limiter les effectifs avec ses points IBU nouvellement introduits. Après Kontiolahti, un premier cut devrait être effectué après les 90 premiers athlètes. Etant donné toutefois que les grandes nations comme la Russie avaient à l’époque déjà plus d’athlètes que de places de quota dans ces 90, l’IBU a refusé de repêcher le Suisse le plus mal classé (90ème). Pendant une très longue séance à Pokljuka, les chefs d’équipe ont remis à nouveau en question cette interprétation du règlement. La Suisse, qui entre-temps a refait un bon en avant sportif, retrouve dès à présent la quatrième place de départ. Ceci a cependant d’autres conséquences. Comme l’IBU a aussi appliqué par erreur à Hochfilzen la pratique de départ désormais rejetée, de possibles points de Coupe du monde du quatrième athlète prenant le départ ainsi que des points IBU et au classement par nation ont échappé à la Suisse. D’autres négociations avec l’IBU devraient déterminer si la Suisse recevra une place de départ supplémentaire pour Oberhof en compensation de ces chances d’obtenir des points perdues.
